Adventure Begins… and Continues at Your Library
Some people love a challenge. Some people love to set goals and exceed them. And some people just really love to read. For the 12 kids who continued their Summer Reading Challenge in a second round to finish a total count of 40 books or 16 hours for the season, any one of these motives might apply. But for those young readers who have made the effort before, an added motive may also have been at play: the chance to participate in the end of summer golden ticket event!
In keeping with this year’s theme of “Adventure Begins at Your Library,” the librarians put together an experiential event unofficially referred to as “Camp Library.” The library closed early on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 to host the event. The kids threw (Nerf) axes, poked a bear, hung out under a starry sky, and had smores, then finished out the evening with spooky(ish) stories and jokes read by our master storyteller, Dee Lizzol. The eight kids in attendance and the librarians had a blast, making for a memorable and fun-filled end to the Summer Reading Program.
