Quilt Display @ the Library

The Quilt Lover’s Guild of Seneca brought in their challenge quilts for display at the library. Their theme goes along with the night time theme of the Summer Reading program this year. There are pictures below, but be sure to stop in to see them for yourself.  There may be more coming, so be sure to come back and check.

Lacey Dalinghaus is the winner of the Eric Carle quilt and board books!!

Lacey, her two year old and infant sons will enjoy the quilt and book for years to come!

Thank you to everyone who supported the library by taking a chance or making a donation! Your generosity is truly appreciated!

Book Buddy Program

On Wednesday October 26, the Seneca Janes and the Library staff handed over the first 12 bags filled with new books for the Book Buddy Program to the Nemaha County sheriff officers.

The Janes contacted the library in August, asking us to be the collection point for books and monetary donations. The community responded, bringing in gently used books. The bulk of the books came from a book party hosted by library staff. Thanks go the generosity of our patrons and organizations at the high school, we received several hundred dollars worth of books free or 1/2 price.

The tote bags filled with childrens books will be placed in emergency vehicles throughout the county.  There are 12 county vehicles that will carry book bags.  In time of crisis children will be allowed to select a book from the tote; the book will be theirs to keep.

This project was made possible through the support of the Seneca Janes, Seneca Free Library, NVHS KAY club, NVHS National Honor Society, NVHS SADD organization, and various individual donors.

The Seneca Free Library will be the only collection point for donations in the county.  Contact us at 336-2377 or by e-mail at librarian@www.senecafreelibrary.org if you have any questions.

Novel Destinations Book Club

Seneca Free Library presents

a summer book club for adults.

Join us as we travel around the world, discovering exotic locations and learning more about our world.  Everyone is welcome!

The Novel Destinations Book Club will meet at 10:00 am at the Seneca Free Library Community Room one Friday each month this summer. Friday June 10, July 8 and August 12. Bring a snack or drink and enjoy great conversation with friends

Not up for a book club? The BINGO card is back this summer! We even give you a free space if you need it. Stop in and ask for your card soon!

Beginning June 6 we will have quizzes to challenge your knowledge of the world. Take one quiz each week through June, turn in your answers, answer all the questions correctly and your name will go in with others for a drawing. The prize is a “taste of the world” treat.

B-I-N-G-O is a program for students in 6th-12th grades.

BINGO cards are filled with fun things to read. As you read and cross off  books, you have BINGO! Turn your completed cards in for a prize.

Ask the librarians for details.

There is no ‘event’ with this program. The time shown on the calendar is simply the time we open. This is a reminder to continue reading through the BINGO card.

Read Along with Me

Read Along with Me will be held every Monday in June from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.
This is a new program for our library, for children in 4th and 5th grades. Bring a snack and drink and enjoy listening to a world story or bring your own book to read.

There are activities for all ages. We ask that in fairness to all participants that you bring your child to the age appropriate event.
