Gerald is a Popular Giraffe!

Oh! How the children love Gerald, our pet giraffe! He loves all the hugs.

But he also loves to be read to. We need your help! Gerald is signed up to read 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten.

The Library Ladies don’t always have time to sit and read to him.

We ask children and parents to read to him or let them listen in when they take time to read a book.

Then remember to make a tally mark on his reading log, the kids like to do that too.

When Gerald hears a story being read, he goes looking for the source so he can see the pictures too!
Gerald1.15.16.2
Gerald stands by the children’s table, waiting for someone to read to him. This was a lucky day! Two girls read to him! He also enjoys watching children play with the puzzles and other games sitting there.

Have you met our new pet?

Gerald     Gerald is new to our Library and is eager to make new friends. He really likes to listen to good books. Do you have any to recommend? Better yet, come in and read to him. He is signed up to read 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten!!  You can read to him or bring the children in to read to him. We all need to pitch in to help him reach his goal. Even if your little one can’t read, they can show him pictures in their favorite book and tell him their story.  See you soon!

Changes in the Children’s Area @ the Library

Reno Day Jan2015 001 Reno Day Jan2015 002 Reno Day Jan2015 004 Reno Day Jan2015 005 Reno Day Jan2015 006 Reno Day Jan2015 007 Reno Day Jan2015 008 Reno Day Jan2015 009 Reno Day Jan2015 011 Reno Day Jan2015 012We were closed Monday January 26 to make changes to the children’s area. We were so excited to get started that we didn’t take ‘before’ or ‘during’ photos. Here are the ‘after’ photos. What do you think? We have rearranged to make it more family and user friendly. No longer are the DVD racks the first thing children seen when they enter the Library.

We are not finished yet! We took down the paper race track for 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, can you guess what are plans are for that? Don’t worry, we kept track of which marker everyone at was on the road. Mostly for now we are going to enjoy the change and take our time deciding just how we want to use all this open area!

We would like to send heartfelt thanks to some people who helped make it all possible. To Carla Hajek for helping us with our vinyl letters and signage, Lynn and Gail Lierz for drawing a floor plan, and the crews from Fairview Mills and City of Seneca who provided manpower to move the shelves. We appreciate all of your support.
