Book Buddy Program

On Wednesday October 26, the Seneca Janes and the Library staff handed over the first 12 bags filled with new books for the Book Buddy Program to the Nemaha County sheriff officers.

The Janes contacted the library in August, asking us to be the collection point for books and monetary donations. The community responded, bringing in gently used books. The bulk of the books came from a book party hosted by library staff. Thanks go the generosity of our patrons and organizations at the high school, we received several hundred dollars worth of books free or 1/2 price.

The tote bags filled with childrens books will be placed in emergency vehicles throughout the county.  There are 12 county vehicles that will carry book bags.  In time of crisis children will be allowed to select a book from the tote; the book will be theirs to keep.

This project was made possible through the support of the Seneca Janes, Seneca Free Library, NVHS KAY club, NVHS National Honor Society, NVHS SADD organization, and various individual donors.

The Seneca Free Library will be the only collection point for donations in the county.  Contact us at 336-2377 or by e-mail at librarian@www.senecafreelibrary.org if you have any questions.

There is no ‘event’ with this program. The time shown on the calendar is simply the time we open. This is a reminder to continue reading through the BINGO card.
