Instructor is Susan Mitchell. Class will be held in the Seneca Free Library Community Room. Fee for the class is $30.00, which includes the pattern. WINTER READING CHALLENGE

Stop in to sign up for  the Adult Winter Reading Challenge. Patrons have until March 2 to read at least 6 books from our list of 20 categories. Everyone who completes the challenge will receive a small gift from the librarians and their name will be placed into a drawing for a change to win a 2018 Kansas Notable Book of their choice! Only one book per category, please. You must come into the Library to register.

Categories include Kansas Notable Books; a book by an author with the same first name as you; a warm, sunny setting; a book with a number in the title; a book you think your mom would like, and many more. You are sure to read more than six!

The Kansas Notable Books List is the annual recognition of 15 outstanding titles either written by Kansans or about a Kansas related topic. The Kansas Notable Book List highlights our lively contemporary writing community and encourages readers to enjoy some of the best writing of the authors among us.

A committee of academics, librarians, and authors of previous Notable Books identifies quality titles from among those published the previous year, and the State Librarian makes the selection for the final List. A medal awards ceremony honors the books and their authors.

Kansas Notable Books is a project of the Kansas Center for the Book, a program of the State Library. Throughout the award year, the State Library promotes and encourages the promotion of all the titles on that year’s list at literary events, and among librarians and booksellers.  {Copied from https://kslib.info/1335/2018-Notable-Books}

Winter Weather Policy

Our winter weather policy in case the weatherman predicts more doom and gloom or bushels of fluffiness – you decide.

If Nemaha Central Schools close early during a school day the library will close at 5:00 that evening.

There may be times when weather quickly turns bad or street and sidewalk conditions cause us to close at 5:00 also.

We announce our weather closings on Facebook, our website, WIBW TV, and KNZA radio.

Call the library before you venture out in bad weather.  If you have items due or coming due soon and the weather is bad please call us at 336-2377.
